I started Crossfit while on my second tour in Iraq in 2008. When I got home in 2009 I joined a local affiliate until moving to Crossfit Edge in October 2014. At some point during my training I realized I wanted to start giving back to the Crossfit community that had done so much for me, so I took my Level 1 certification in the summer of 2012. It was one of the best decisions I've made. I've competed in a few competitions and sometimes judge as well. I would like to attend the Olympic Lifting Certification and either the Kettlebell or Endurance Certification in the future.
Being a trainer brings me great joy and pride. It's perhaps the best feeling in the world when a new athlete starts and through proper programming and nutrition they begin to get stronger and faster. They see changes in their body and start doing things they didn't think possible. To be able to help someone gain confidence in themselves and their abilities and make such positive changes is truly the best part of being a trainer.
On the personal side I'm a Firefighter/Paramedic in southern Macomb County for the past 14 years, and a SWAT Medic. I retired out of the Marine Corps after 22 years of service and I'm a doting Dad of two awesome teenagers. Both of them have been doing Crossfit off and on for several years during the off season of their respective sports (Cross Country and Soccer). Crossfit has shown them proper lifting technique, helped them develop mental strength and made them both stronger and better in life. You will see them time to time getting a WOD in with me especially over the summer.
